Kate Pumfrey

Head of Development

Kate originally trained as a news journalist but decided her heart belonged to TV while making her own short film about OAPs looking for love – and hasn’t looked back since!

In the years since then, Kate has enjoyed working across both development and production, producing on a wide range of hit factual series including Channel 4’s award-winning First Dates and First Dates Hotel, Bake Off: The Professionals, ITV’s The Paras: Men of War and Netflix’s colourful competition format The Big Flower Fight.

In development, Kate’s work has helped to win multiple major commissions including BBC Two’s returning history format A House Through Time, ITV’s access series Devon and Cornwall Cops, Fact Ent format The Big Audition, and Discovery’s Inside the Gangsters’ Code. Most recently, she developed and cast choirmaster Gareth Malone’s series for BBC Two, The Choir: Singing for Britain.

As Head of Development, Kate’s focus is now dreaming up new ideas and winning exciting commissions alongside the talented team at Crackit.
